Shihan Jackson Sr. supports students decisions 100% either way. Ratio of Children to Adults 2:1 Jackson's Karate Institute has a student base of approximately 30 to 35 students. Introductory Course Do you offer an introductory course? No information. Testing Fees How much? How often? Testing fees depend on the rank level which the student will be testing for. Testing is conducted about every two or three months, depending on rank level. Tuition Mr. Jackson has never charged for lessons and gives of his knowledge and time freely. Contract No. Other Costs Students are given the choice of purchasing uniforms through Shihan Jackson Sr. or through other means. Instructor Certifications Shihan Jackson Sr. (7th Dan) has been training in the Martial Arts since July of 1979 under Kyoshi Ron White (8th Dan). Biography Shihan Jackson Sr. teaches at the Buley Center on Broadway and Penn Street. Jackson's Karate Institute is a martial arts institution teaching American Taekwon-Do/Karate-Do and offers instruction in Police Defensive Tactics, street defense, ground fighting, Filipino Sticks and Knife Fighting and Okinawan Kobudo (weapons). Shihan Jackson Sr. (7th Dan) has been teaching at the Buley Center since May 1990. Shihan Jackson Sr. has promoted twenty-seven Black Belts to date, five of whom have open their own Martial Arts schools. Some of these Black Belts are Sensei Kyle Temple (Muncie PD Officer/Senior Instructor at Jackson's Karate Institute), Sensei Ron Curry, Sensei Jay Dotson (Chief of Security at Ball Memorial Hospital), Sensei Martin Gibson, Sensei Cory Ballinger, Sensei Jason and Anne Adams. Shihan Jackson Sr. has been awarded Instructor of the Year on several occasions and has been inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and World Karate Union Hall of Fame. Shihan Jackson Sr. is a very kind and considerate Christian man, who instills these beliefs in his students and still teaches Martial Arts and discipline to his students as it was passed down to him.
